August 21, 2011

Let me recap the first week of the 2011 season. The first two days were disappointing to say the least, especially considering the morning temperatures were outstanding for mid August. The moon, however, was not. Saw virtually nothing either day. Day three, Wednesday, saw things begin to pick up. Had two small bucks come in that morning. In the afternoon things broke open. The sit began with a couple of does coming in, followed late by a bachelor group of four bucks. The third buck out was the “man”- a wide ten pointer. Had some tense moments but, with light running out, managed to get off a good shot with my new PSE Omen Pro which had been recommended to me by Hank Parker. Well, the Omen Pro is now 1 for 1 and when combined with a 100-grain Muzzy has proved to be a deadly machine. Got a clean pass through at 32 yds- double lung shot. He only made it about 75 yds. I was able to capture it all on video ( see video gallery ).  Took the day off Thursday but was back at it on Friday. Saw a couple of does Friday morning and then another bachelor group with at least one shooter Friday afternoon. Closest they got was 75 yds. Hope your season starts out just as successful as mine. Can’t wait until next week. Later…
