Shot my third buck of the season Friday afternoon. Took a shot I don’t like to take but I was running out of light, not that I haven’t made it before. The buck would not give me a better shot other than head on. I attempted to shoot him between the shoulder blades but ended up shooting him through the neck. I thought the buck left in one direction and that led my tracking job in the wrong direction. After about 45 minutes of finding no sign I decided to abandon the search for the night. When I had a chance to review the video footage it was clear that the buck went in another direction. I found him the next morning about 100 yds from where I shot him- very regrettable. Won’t make that mistake again. Later…
