Things have been relatively slow, at least for me, since I returned from Riverbend Whitetails in Kentucky. Of course, the weather has not been conducive to deer movement- warm and muggy. However, things are about to change. We’re about to see lows around 50 and highs in the 70’s. Get ready because the action is getting ready to take off! The next 3-4 weeks should be the best of the year for us. Good luck! By the way, I’ve edited and uploaded the video of my trip to Riverbend. Check it out in the “Deer-2011” video gallery. Later…

Many of you may have had trouble accessing the site recently. I’ve had a problem with files being modified by an unknown source thus causing a virus alert to be issued. To correct this I’ve been in the process of moving my site to a new hosting server. This has taken much longer than we anticipated but we’ve finally completed the move. I’ve still got to go back and add all my photos but the videos have all been uploaded. Thanks for your patience. Look for a new video to be added to the 2011 gallery sometime Sunday. Later…

Just got back from hunting at Riverbend Whitetails in Kentucky. Temps were warm and the moon was full but I had a great time sharing camp with Hank Parker, Hank, Jr. and Billie “Catfish” Parker. Hank killed a really nice 150 class buck. You’ll be able to see the video of that kill on his 2012 show. I didn’t get a shot but had some really good bucks in close. I’m currently editing a video of my experience and hope to have it uploaded to the site over the weekend. Hank’s buck can be seen on Riverbend’s facebook page.

After a relatively slow end to August things have definitely picked up the last two days. Deer were moving early yesterday afternoon- on their feet by 5:00. I was wearing my shorts, as I usually do this time of year, and deer started coming in before I had time to settle into my stand and get my mesh pants on. I saw three small bucks and several does from 5:30 to 8:00. Right at dark I had a good buck ( shooter ) come out. I could see him fairly good with my binoculars but couldn’t see him well enough with my naked eye to take a decent shot. I know of two really good bucks that were killed yesterday afternoon.

This morning the deer activity continued. I probably saw 15-20 does and yearlings, along with one small buck, from 6:30 to 8:00. Hope this trend continues. Later…
