It’s been awhile since you’ve heard from me. The reason is simple- I haven’t been doing anything since December. Well, I’ve been doing a little but not much. I did get my stands down and have already moved a couple to new trees for next season. Also, I have been feeding hi-pro supplemental feed but there’s not a lot to show from my trail cams. Have photos of a couple of bucks that still have horns but most of what I see are does and bucks which have shed their antlers. I’ll continue to feed and check my trail cams. As soon as I start seeing some new antler growth I’ll start posting pictures. As far as the thunder chickens go I’m seeing plenty of them just about everywhere. Even have a few big longbeards coming to my back yard every day. Later…

Well, another season is in the books. When I consider big buck encounters this season will go down as one of the best I’ve ever had. However, when I consider results it’s pretty much a mixed bag. I killed three good bucks, one of which is at the taxidermist, and a couple of big does. My last kill was a doe on December 30th ( video is posted ). On the down side I did miss two good bucks that I sure hated to miss. I guess in the final anaysis it is really all about the encounters. I hope you had a good season as well and you enjoyed following my experiences through the website. I guess I’ll start some supplemental feeding shortly and checking trail cameras to see what made it through the season. I had encounters with a couple of great bucks that I hope made it through. Stay tuned for trail cam photos and, take comfort, turkey season will be here before you know it. Later…

Well the season is winding down fast. In fact, for the most part catching a good buck in the daylight will be difficult at best. I’m still getting a number of really good bucks on trail cam but primarily after dark. Did catch a pretty good buck at 7:30 in the morning about a week ago. Happened to be a stand with very little pressure on it. I’ll keep going some if only to take a doe or two. Would like to get another kill of some kind on video for the website. Stay tuned. Later…

Things have really been slow lately for this tree hugger. Bowhunting is particularly difficult this time of year because the deer have become so wary of bait and tend to become more and more nocturnal around it. The exception might be the case of late estrus does. There are still some of them around and if you’re fortunate enough to find one you may get that opportunity at a good buck even at this late date. I was very surprised to catch on trail cam a real pig of a buck a couple of days ago on one of my stands at 7:15AM – a 10 pointer that will easily top the scales at 200+. He seemed to be tending a doe. Hang in there, it’s not over yet. Later…
