Williamsburg Bow Hunter

To say this has been an unusual season is an understatement. The first half of the season has been extremely hot and wet, and the mosquitoes have been terrible! I finally got a shot on October 1 only to recover him four days later. That sucks, but it is a part of bowhunting. Since then I haven’t actually seen a decent buck in daylight even though I’m still getting some photos of some good ones on trail camera. So this past week I decided to take a couple of does for some folks who wanted some. That was fun and made for good video but its not what I’m really after, AND WE’RE HALF WAY THROUGH THE RUT! Finally though it has begun to dry out and get a little cooler. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Later…

Man, is it wet! I feel like we’re reliving the 2015 season- water, water everywhere. The hunting, at least for me, is very difficult right now because of all the water on the ground. I’ve hunted three times so far and twice got rained on. And, the mosquitoes are terrible! Well, I guess it is what it is. I did have a decent buck come in Thursday afternoon after a rain storm passed through. I was unsure about shooting him but he took the decision out of my hands by abruptly leaving. I really think that was best the more I think about it. Here’s hoping for drier weather. Later…

Well we’re off in 2020! Not the best of weather conditions but it is what it is. Actually this morning was not too bad. Temperature was quite pleasant but the mosquitos were definitely out in force. Thank goodness for the thermacell. I saw a couple of small bucks right at daylight but that was it. Got down about 9:30. It’s now about 4:15 and I hear thunder so I don’t know if I’ll chance it this afternoon. I am starting to get some decent trail cam pictures which you can check out in the Photo Gallery. Later…

Don’t know about you but I’m in withdrawal right now. Turkey season’s been over for six weeks now and deer season is two months away. If it wasn’t for a little fishing I’d go stir crazy. Been trying to get some food plots planted in between rains but it’s been trying We’re wet!! I’m sure deer season will arrive before you know it and I’ll be killing myself getting stands hung, etc. I’m just looking forward to a better deer season than last year. Later…
