Well, things have been pretty slow but I think they are beginning to get better. Remember, September 18th is moving day. So get ready. I got teased a little yesterday. Had a really good buck come in at dark. I could see him good with the binoculars but just couldn’t see him well enough with my naked eye to be comfortable taking a shot. You can see him in the Trail Cam photo gallery. Later…

Well, I had an absolutely awful hunt yesterday afternoon. I’ll call it “The Hunt From Hell”! I said before the season opened that this might be a bad season due to the amount of water on the ground. I hate to say it but my prediction is turning out to be true, at least for me. I could tell you about it here but I’ll let the video fill you in. Check it out. Later…

Hunted yesterday in a bean field. Stopped counting at 34 does and fawns. Finally had two bucks come out right at dark but they were a 150 yds away. One looked like a decent 8 pt, the other was smaller. Had a buddy from Union hunting with me in the adjacent field, only about 300 yds away and he saw one doe early. Funny how that happens. Well, we decided to try hunting the woods this morning but the deer just weren’t moving. Neither of us saw a deer but my buddy did see the bear just as I was coming to pick him up about 9:00. Bad moon right now. Later…

Well, I decided to get up and go this morning in spite of the warm temps, water and bad moon. I’ve got two setups on this piece of property so I decided to go to the one easiest to get up in without having to tread too much water. No deer moved where I was so I got down a little after 8:00 and went to the other stand to pull my camera card. Just looked at it and my bear was there this morning. I need to reposition the camera downward slightly because it’s only catching the top half of the bear. Check out my trail cam gallery for a photo of him and a buck shedding his velvet. Looking forward to some drier and cooler weather in a few days. Later…
