The 2015 turkey season is half over and it’s been pretty exciting so far. I’ve tagged three so far, two with my gun and one with my bow. Gobbling has been pretty good with plenty of birds around. Have some good videos loaded on the site. Check ’em out. Later…

Well, the 2015 turkey season is open. I had a great opening day, bagging a nice 17 pounder with a 9.5 inch beard- super morning! Probably had six or seven different birds gobbling. Hope you had a great day as well. You can check out my hunt in the “Thunder Chickens” video gallery. Later…

You haven’t heard from me in awhile but hopefully that will change with the opening of turkey season in about a week. I’ve been doing some scouting and it looks like there are plenty of birds. Can’t wait! I had the pleasure today of meeting in Columbia with a couple of nice gentlemen fromĀ the House of Representatives re some deer bills currently making their way through the legislature. Looks like the turkey bill has all but been passed. Impact- annual bird limit dropped from five to three. My concern is the “one size fits all” approach to the new bag limit. My personal opinion is SC is too diverse in both habitat and game density for a single limit for the entire state to be the best approach. However, it’s a done deal now. The deer bill is still pending and hopefully some changes are still possible. I do appreciate these gentlemen listening to my views. I’ll keep you informed. Later…

Well, another season is in the books and what a great ending for me. Shot a great 11 pointer yesterday afternoon and recovered him this morning. My shot was pretty far back ( dropped my bow a week ago and may have knocked the sight off, or maybe I just pulled the shot ) so I decided to leave him overnight after finding blood a short distance. Turned out to be a great decision. He went about 200 yds before going down. I’m sure had I followed him last night he would have gotten up and left the area. Anyway, couldn’t have asked for a better end to the season. Ready for a break myself. Turkey season will be here before you know it. Later…
