Man, what a great season this has been so far, at least for me. Three really good bucks, two of which are already at the taxidermist. The crazy thing about it is that the biggest deer, 207 lbs, is not at the taxidermist- a 9pt that will have to settle for a European mount. All of this and we’re not even half way through the season. Makes me more concerned than ever about the proposed deer bill now in the legislature. If it passes in its present form, one more buck and my season would be over for the most part. Well that’s a topic for future discussion. Suffice it to say, this season has been great for me and if I don’t kill another buck it will still be a great season for me. Man, I had another great hunt yesterday afternoon and the second time was the charm! Another encounter with the big 9pt I missed shooting about 10 days ago when I ran out of light. Same thing almost happened again. He came in just before dark just like the first time. I knew I was basically out of camera light but when he gave me a quartering angle I said I wasn’t going to let this opportunity pass because I could still see well enough to get a shot off. What a pig, 207 lbs! The video isn’t great but I do have it. It’ll be up in a few days. Check it out. Can’t believe I’ve already taken two quality bucks by mid September. Later…

Man, I had a close call today with a shooter. Had a good buck come in with about 25 minutes of light left. As luck, bad luck, would have it I ran out of light without getting a decent shot opportunity. You can check it out in the video gallery. Later…

Great start to the 2015 season. Drilled the tall tine 8 pointer yesterday morning. Made a good shot on him and he went about 125 yds. Did not get the kill on video because I forgot to go back to this particular stand and put a camera arm on the tree. What a mindless thing to do!! You can check out the recovery however. That will never happen again. Anyway, the pressure’s off. Later…
