Don’t know about you but I’m in withdrawal right now. Turkey season’s been over for six weeks now and deer season is two months away. If it wasn’t for a little fishing I’d go stir crazy. Been trying to get some food plots planted in between rains but it’s been trying We’re wet!! I’m sure deer season will arrive before you know it and I’ll be killing myself getting stands hung, etc. I’m just looking forward to a better deer season than last year. Later…

Our season officially ended here last week on the 30th. Overall I’d say I had a very good season, limiting out personally and participating on four other kills. Check out some pretty good videos in the “Thunder Chickens” gallery. I’m looking forward to a little down time until prior to getting ready for deer season. Hope you had a great turkey season as well. Would love to hear from you. Later…

Turkey season is off to a fast start. Opening day was on 3/22 but I didn’t hunt since that was a Sunday. Monday came soon enough as I picked up the preacher at 6:00AM and headed to the woods. Didn’t take long before we had ourselves a “double”! Had two come running into my jake decoy and the preacher tagged one and I tagged the other. His was the bigger bird at 18.75 lbs and mine was 16.25 lbs. The only downside to the hunt was my failure to get it on video- a rookie mistake on my part. Nevertheless we’ll take em!

Well, I was done until April 1st so I had two good friends down on the 27th & 28th, Jantzen and Jay Childers from Union. Jantzen killed his on Friday morning and Jay got his on Saturday morning. Two great hunts AND I did get some great video! You can check them out in the ‘Thunder Chickens” gallery.

Congrats to my three turkey hunting buddies.

Well the 2019 deer season is a wrap. I guess I’d have to say it was a mixed bag for me, but overall down considerably from recent years. In fact I’d say it was probably the worst in 20 years as far as seeing good bucks and getting shots at ’em. I mean I had trouble even getting trail cam pics of good deer. I ended the season with three bucks and four does. However, two of the better bucks that I got shots at I didn’t recover. One I had a terrible hit on and one I had a really good hit on. I will say I closed out the season down at Indian Mound Plantation in Alabama in grand fashion- basically shot all my “bullets”. Killed a good cull buck and three does. I’m working on video editing and should be uploading all the footage soon. Just waiting for turkey season ! Later…
